Villa Le Macine

Villa Le Macine is a restored historic mill set among the hills of the Chianti region, twenty miles from Florence. The main house and two separate annexes sit within lush gardens alongside the Pesa River, which runs through the estate with its own private access. The restoration has been carried out with real care, preserving the original millstones, medieval bread oven, brick archways and a kitchen that dates back to the fourth century AD, twin to the one found in the Monumental Kitchen of Badia a Passignano. The result is a house where the history is not decorative but genuinely present.

Across the main villa and its two annexes, seven bedrooms offer a variety of settings, from garden-level suites carved directly from the old mill's manger to a loft room in the Rosemary annex overlooking the pool.
